Recently, I had the chance to interview Shaunic, the co-owner of
Kisse Girl, a bath and body products company for girls. With a mission of providing girls with products designed to help them feel good about who they are, her story is downright inspirational, and I thought I'd share...
How did you start Kisse Girl? Why?"The idea for Kisse Girl came while I was on Thanksgiving vacation with my family in 2006. My Mother has a line of childrens clothing
www.appleseyekids.com and I was working on a jean line at the time called Kisse Girl Jeans. The concept was going to be jeans with lip balm attached to the belt loop, which by the way, I will launch eventually under the Look Good divison of
Kisse Girl. Anyway, while researching lip balm manufacturers, I saw how easy it would be to just make it myself. That's how Kisse Girl was born." "...I always knew my ministry would be for girls because of the things that I have experienced in my life. I want to be able to be a blessing to girls and make growing up a little easier than it was for me. What better way to do it than through a product line that I enjoy making!"
What role did your daughter play in helping you to develop the Kisse Girl product line?"Actually the product line is named after her. She has 3 older brothers and when she was 2, she didn't like them to kiss her. Everytime they would kiss her she would run to me and say, 'Mom, Caleb kisse me.' So we started calling her Kisse! Now she is 5 and she is my number one tester. She inspires all of the products in the line."
What is your favorite Kisse Girl product and why? "It's so hard to pick a favorite because I enjoy all of them the same. But if you want to know what I use the most, that would be the lip gloss, bubble bath, and lotion!! I have nail polish coming soon!"
What vision do you have for your company in the future? What's next?"The ultimate goal is for the
Kisse Girl brand to be a household name. The short term goal is to build brand reconition by expanding to be in retail stores big and small. Our next big event will be at the
Girl Power Expo in Washington, DC in April. We will always give a portion of our profits to non-profit organizations that have a mission to serve girls. That's what we're all about!"
